CubFest 2004

Chown's Farm
Chown's Farm or as it is more properly know as Ambleside Farm, is
located at 145 Gibbon Mountain Road, Kierstead Mountain NB. The
nearest town is Sussex NB, about 16 KM (10 miles) away. The villages
of Apohaqui (pronounced ap-a-hawk) and Norton ( Home town of
country singer Chris Cummings) are nearby to the south.
We are a short drive from Fundy national park, located on the Bay of
Fundy, home of the highest tides in the world. The Hopewell Rocks,
another of our natural atractions, is just over an hour away, near
Moncton NB. Close by Hopewell is the Salem and Hillsborough Railroad,
a historic tourist railway that operates steam engines and era passenger cars, offering
dining trips, and other short jaunts through scenic New Brunswick country side
and is a must do day/evening trip. To the north is the historic site of Kings
Landing, an olde time village, featuring staff in historic dress
giving insight to life in New Brunswick around the turn of the century.
Just north of Moncton in nearby Buctouche is La Pays de Saguine which portrays
some aspects of early Acadian life through period clothing and theatre.
This is a rather interesting attraction. For those who are really interested
in early Acadian life in New Brunswick, a trip to Caraquet on the North
Shore to see The Acadian Village there is a must. Go back in time about
200 years and experience "roughing it!"
For information on these and other New Brunswick attractions, visit
the Tourism New Brunswick web-site at Stuff to See in NB.

The Chown family have been farming at Ambleside farm since Edward, father
of current owner Alton, bought the farm from his father in about 1927. We
have been raising purebred Angus beef cattle since 1956.

The farm now has the third generation working on the farm, with the
fourth living here and pitching in when not at school.

The first tractor on our farm was a 1947 IH
W-4 purchased new by Edward Chown, and IH has been the only brand used
since. Alton and David Chown collect letter series IH tractors, with their
collection now standing at 11. The collection includes a 1954 Cub, 3 1940
A's, a 1944 A, a 1940 B, a 1947 "Louisville" BN, a 1952 H, a 1945 M, and a
1950 W-4.
Your hosts, The Chown family and Rudi Saueracker, would like to extend
an invitation to you to attend "CubFest Northeast 2004", taking place the weekend
of the 11,12,and 13 of June at Ambleside Farm
For those who are able to attend, the New
Brunswick Agricultural Museum holds an antique tractor and engine
show on Victoria day weekend each year in Sussex at the Fair Grounds.
